Bradgate
Bradgate took the Spanish "Madel Man" doll and marketed him in the UK under the name "Little Big Man" as a 7" version of their popular "Action Man" line. He
came in a windows box (singly or with an accessory set) and surprisingly
was well articulated. The figure came in a brown or blonde hair
color and was usually dressed in an army style outfit with helmet
and walkie talkie. His boots are directly attached to the legs
(no feet) with pegs. The bad thing about them is the plastic for
the accessories gets brittle and bends and snaps. The accessory
sets came on both blue and red cards. The neat thing is how the
cards may have the same names but different accessories in the
sets. Bradgate was a division of Palitoy and the Little Big Man sets are even found in the 1975 Palitoy Catalog. These are quite difficult
to find, especially in good condition. Thanks fto Bill Frost for some of these images.
