Durham Industries, Inc.

Durham Industries, Inc. made some very cheap figures and distributed them through five and dime stores such as Woolworths & Co.. They did have an interesting feature in that they usually have a button on their back so that they can kick, punch or chop. The problem with these figures is that the paint chips easily and they usually have glue in their joints that leaks out slowly over the years and ruins the clothes.

8" Kung Fu Figures

Kung Fu Yung Kung Fu   Instructions

The larger 8 inch figure came boxed with kicking and chopping actionand looked like Bruce Lee. The Yung Kung Fu was modeled after the character who represented David Carradine as a young boy in the monastary from the 1970's television series "Kung Fu". The big problem with the larger figure was the glue leaking out of the wrists which stained and ruined the clothes. The smaller 5 inch figure only had chopping action.

5" Safari Hunter

These 5 inch Safari Hunters had chopping action similar to the Yung Kung Fu figure. There was one figure dressed in a tan outfit with hat and binoculars, and another figure dressed in a blue and tan outfit with a red fez hat. He also came with a white over the shoulder belt. The shoes and socks on these figure are molded on and painted.

Western!

5" Glump
Glump

A one of a kind caveman with club swiniging action. I haven't seen too many other cavemen types except Mego's One Million BC line.

5" Fireman

This guy has quick draw action.

The Daredevil is another new series for me. Dig the "flag waving" action! Per master collector Dave Bellmont, he has an example carded with stickers at the top of the boots instead of the painted red lines.

Ok, so not exactly "cool" by definition of the characters, but you have to admit it's pretty cool to see all of the variety here!
