Lincoln International
These monsters are some of the hardest and coolest around to find.
They sport some really nice vibrant colors, are "Fully Jointed
8 inch Monsters" and some even sport some neat hands... kinda
in a "claws-spread" fashion. They came carded and boxed
(the artwork is so monster-esque and 1960/70 style!), but the boxed
versions were mainly European and very expensive (and rare). As
a matter of fact, any unopened version of these guys will fetch
a great price. The head sculpts are unique and the boxes are designed
as backgrounds to match the monsters persona. They not only did
the usual Dracula, Frankenstein, Mummy and Wolfman, but they also
added characters such as the Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Phantom
of the Opera. Add to this a unique and very rare catalog set involving
a smaller doll marked "The Victim", and the very elusive
Mr. Spock knockoff known as Mr. Rock (complete with space gun and pink "tricorder")
and you have one of the toughest sets to complete! Be sure to check
out the ad showing the Mego Heros fighting the Lincoln monsters
from a Montgomery Ward catalog in 1977(?). A *very* special thanks
to Ray Castile & The
Gallery of Monster Toys (for introducing
me to the lines years ago & providing pics and info!), Brian
Heiler (for hooking me up with my first Lincoln Hunchback MOC when
I did not think I would ever have the opportunity to own one!),Plaid Stallions and
The Mego Museum for
the use of pics, Matt Jaycox for pics and some incredible repro
boxes!, and Greg Mason for helping me find my victim!
