Playing
Mantis
Playing Mantis was responsible for reproducing the very popular
Captain Action line from the 1960's as well as making a new line
of figures called Action Jackson loosely based on the original
Mego toys.

Playing
Mantis used Ideal's molds of the 60's Captain Action series to
recreate these figures in a new window style box. Pressure from
fans convinced Playing Mantis for a couple of things. First, they
changed the flesh tone of the Captain himself to be more like the
original and less pasty in color. Second, they recreated Captain
Action and Dr. Evil in very cool retro style boxes as they were
originally packaged. Some of these figures were only available
at KB Toys.

Playing Mantis made three boxed sets of uniforms. The fourth was
Speed Racer and never made it to production. The boxed Lone Ranger
set was in the Ranger's original red shirt. They packaged his more
well-known blue uniform in a separate boxed set.

These
3 action figures were loosely based on Mego's Action Jackson of
the 1970s. The figures are about 8.5" tall actually and come with
a lot of accessories. There is one variation available. The WWII
Soldier came both bearded and unbearded. These figures also came
on blister cards and in windows boxes.

Every kid's hero in the 1970's! Evel Knievel was the "King of the Stuntmen".
He was so cool that Playing Mantis actually
remade the stunt cycle set a few years back, originally made by Ideal in
the 70's.
